Sindh govt unveils 'Peoples Karachi Program'
Sindh government has also finalized strategy for the revival of Karachi's road infrastructure
KARACHI (Dunya News) – As Prime Minister Imran Khan is visiting Karachi today, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) led Sindh government has prepared ‘Peoples Karachi Program’ to solve major issues of the metropolis.
According to details of the Karachi program available with Dunya News, the program includes five mega water projects and eight sewerage projects which would be completed by the provincial government in the port city to end the water and sewerage crisis.
The Sindh government has also finalized strategy for the revival of Karachi’s road infrastructure, sources told.
On the other hand, Prime Minister Imran Khan is all set to announce more than 50 projects for Karachi under the Karachi Transformation Plan worth Rs1100 billion.
Karachi circular railway project of Rs300 billion will be part of the transformation plan. The Chinese government will provide Rs250 billion for the circular railway.
Rs447.45 billion will be spent on mass transit system projects. Under the plan, six mass transit system projects will be announced while road construction and repair projects are estimated at Rs62.30 billion.
