Torrential rain expected in some areas of Pakistan from Thursday: Met Dept

LAHORE (Dunya News) - A new spell of heavy rains is forecast in upper parts of Pakistan including Lahore from Thursday, the Meteorological Department issued an advisory on Wednesday.

The Meteorological Department said that the current rain spell across Sindh, including Karachi, has concluded and the weather will remain dry for the next ten days. However, light rain is possible in some parts of the province in this time.

Rain is expected in most parts of Islamabad, Upper and Central Punjab, Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir on Thursday while showers with lightning are expected in a few places in South Punjab. Meanwhile, hot and dry weather will prevail in Sindh and Balochistan.

During the last 24 hours, thunderstorms occurred at most places in Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Upper and Central Punjab, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan but the weather remained dry in other parts of the country.

Yesterday Jhang recorded 91mm of rain, Joharabad 54, Nurpur Thal 52, Islamabad 45, Attock 32, Murree 24, Khanewal 20, Rawalpindi 21, Chakwal 19, Faisalabad 15, Toba Tek Singh 14, Bhakkar 13, Bahawalnagar 10, Sargodha 08, Hafizabad 2, Multan 1, Malam Jabba 86, Balakot 79, Pattan 64, Kakul 62, Chirat 53, Kalam 44, Saidu Sharif 24, Dir 18, Takht Bai 13, Peshawar 8, Mirkhani, DI Khan 8, Darosh 2, Muzaffarabad 87, Garhi Dupatta 7, Chilas 13, Gopis and Bagrut 3 and Gilgit and Astor had 2 mm of rain.
