Railway schedule badly affected as rain continues to pound Pakistan

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Amid the current monsoon season in the country, Pakistan Railways administration has canceled the departure of 3 trains while many trains coming to Lahore were delayed for up to 4 hours.

According to details, the recent rains have resulted in the departure of three trains, Shah Hussain Express, Karachi Express and Karakoram Express being canceled.

Many trains from Karachi and Quetta to Lahore were delayed by 1 to 4 hours. Millat Express from Karachi was delayed by 4 hours, Green Line Express by 3 hours and 35 minutes, Khyber Mail by 2 hours and 45 minutes and Awam Express by 2 hours.

Farid Express and Sir Syed Express were late by 2 hours 25 minutes, Rehman Baba, Pakistan Express, Tezgam and Allama Iqbal Express by 1 hour 30 minutes while Jaffar Express from Quetta arrived 4 hours late.

Passengers could do nothing but complain about train delays and unavailability of other facilities.

The railway administration said that it is trying to enforce safety rules amid the crisis situation and clarified that the train schedule was affected due to unprecedented rains across the country; passengers scheduled to travel on canceled trains will be provided with alternative tickets.
