Outbreak of diseases feared as torrential rains submerge Karachi roads

Power supply in some areas of the metropolis has not been restored even after two days.

KARACHI (Dunya News) – The doctors in Karachi have feared outbreak of viral diseases as rainwater in most parts of the metropolis including Kharadar and Lines Area has still not been drained out despite passage of several days.

Helpless locals are using buckets to keep water out of homes which has destroyed household items. Water has not been drained out from Korangi Crossing and Grey River Apartments for two days due to the government’s negligence.

Yusuf Goth near Surjani Town, Abdul Rehman Goth and Sachal Goth are also badly affected.

Power supply in some areas of the metropolis has not been restored even after two days while several sub stations of K-Electric have also been inundated with rainwater.

A body has also been recovered from a stream in old Golimar area.

On the other hand, the Met Office has predicted more rains in Karachi, Thatta, Hyderabad and Badin.

The new spell is likely to continue for three days in Sindh and Balochistan. It is feared that the downpours will cause urban flooding and inundate low-lying areas of lower Sindh.
