Remittances from overseas Pakistanis reach record $2,768m in July

Remittances saw a 12.2 percent increase over the month of June this year.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that provision of every possible facility to overseas Pakistanis regarding remittances is top priority of the government.

Chairing a meeting about increase in remittances and foreign exchange reserves, in Islamabad today, the Prime Minister expressed satisfaction over significant increase in remittances sent by overseas Pakistanis during last month.

The Prime Minister said overseas Pakistanis are an important asset of the country and the nation.

He directed the Ministry of Finance, FBR, and the Governor State Bank of Pakistan to recommend more measures to increase the remittances and foreign exchange reserves of the country and encourage the Pakistanis abroad and within country to take active part in stability of the country s economy.

Earlier Prime Minister Imran Khan had said remittances from overseas Pakistanis has reached 2,768 million dollars in July this year.

Sharing this welcome news about the country s economy in a tweet on Monday, PM Imran said that remittances in the month of July are highest ever amount in one month in the history of Pakistan.

He added that this is 12.2 percent increase over the month of June this year and 36.5 percent increase over July last year.
