Bail decision violated the rules defined by larger bench, NAB said.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The National Accountability Bureau Wednesday filed a review petition in the Supreme Court on the decision of granting bail to PML-N leaders Khawaja Saad Rafique and Khawaja Salman Rafique in the Paragon Housing Society corruption case.

The anti-corruption watchdog requested the apex court to overrule the verdict of Khawaja brothers’ bail. A three-member bench hears the NAB cases according to the rules whereas Saad Rafique and Salman Rafique were granted bail by a two-member bench, the accountability bureau maintained.

The application stated, “The Supreme Court’s observation will affect the trial of the corruption case. The bail decision by the court violated the rules defined by the larger bench as the top court had directed to issue a short verdict.

“The apex court’s two-member bench wrote an 87-page decision. The court should remove paragraphs 18 to 48 and 56 to 70 from its verdict.”
