A hearing pertaining to encroachments was conducted at the Supreme Court's Karachi Registry.

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Attorney General for Pakistan (AGP) Khalid Javed Khan has on Wednesday told the Supreme Court that the federal government is deliberating on different legal and constitutional options to save Karachi.

A hearing pertaining to encroachments was conducted at the Supreme Court’s Karachi Registry. The attorney general maintained that he is not in a position to share details about the possible steps that the federation might take.

Khalid Javed Khan said, “Karachi has become an orphan city at the moment. Pakistan will be destroyed if Karachi is ruined.”

Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed ordered to immediately remove encroachments from the sides of nullahs in the provincial capital and ordered the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to submit report in three months.

Sindh advocate general assured the court to do away with encroachments in two months.

The CJP also expressed dissatisfaction over Karachi commissioner’s report and said neither the Sindh government nor the local bodies are working.

“The entire Karachi has become a goth and the city is filled with gutter water. Mosquitoes and flies are everywhere. Nothing has been done from Karachi to Kashmore and the rule of law is nowhere to be seen. The provincial government is enjoying watching people in such a state.”
