Fakhar Imam holds Sindh govt responsible for country's wheat shortage

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Federal Ministers Shibli Faraz and Fakhar Imam have held the Sindh government responsible for creating artificial wheat shortage in the country, saying that a crisis has been created even though production has exceeded this year’s target. They said if the province releases its wheat, the price can be brought down significantly.

In a press conference on Monday, Federal Minister for Food Security Fakhar Imam said that there is no reason for the Sindh government to not releasing its stockpile of wheat. We request the immediate release of wheat, as it will greatly benefit the common man, he said.

Syed Fakhr Imam said that due to Sindh government, difficulties are being created for the federal government. It is the responsibility of the provinces to take action against hoarders, just as the Punjab government has done. This is why, in most places in the province, 20 kg of flour is available at Rs 860.

Speaking on the occasion, Information Minister Shibli Faraz said that the Sindh government has politicized coronavirus and wheat shortage while the profit makers are busy plundering the country. He said that we will not allow anyone to create an artificial crisis, those who do will be severely dealt with.
