Airbus experts repair FDR, CVR, decoding process started

KARACHI (Dunya News) - The team of Airbus experts has started decoding of the flight data recorder and cockpit voice recorder of the ill-fated plane after it successfully managed to repair the said equipment.

The repair and decoding work was carried out in presence of the Chairman of the Board of Investigation set up by the Government of Pakistan. The head of the plane crash investigation board also met with Airbus officials in France, a meeting which was also attended by officials from the French Safety Investigation Board and the company that manufactures the engine.

The crashed plane was leased from a foreign company in 2014 on a six-year dry lease. The insurance amount of 20 million dollars will be paid to the foreign leasing company instead of PIA.

According to PIA spokesperson, the amount of life insurance of the passengers will be paid to the family members at the rate of Rs 5 million per person under the prevailing rules.
