Coronavirus cases expected to cross 100,000 by mid-June

LAHORE (Dunya News) - Pakistan has entered its most tough phase of novel coronavirus as the federal government has estimated that cases across the country will exceed 100,000 by mid-June.

According to the estimation, the pandemic will kill 2,500 more persons by mid-June and the government has no option but to follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) at the moment.

On the other hand, Punjab’s Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department Secretary Captain (retd) Muhammad Usman forwarded a summary to Chief Minister Usman Buzdar in which it has been feared that 670,000 persons in Lahore alone could be affected by COVID-19.

The summary contained smart sampling results and recommendations. The samples were collected from hotspots, residences and offices in Lahore. Sources revealed that symptoms were not found in these cases which are a result of infection and local transmission.

According to the summary, coronavirus result of 6% samples was positive. Furthermore, 14.7% samples were tested positive in six towns of the provincial capital.
