Government likely to reduce petroleum prices by Rs 15 per liter.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The federal government is likely to provide another relief in petroleum prices following the drop in international market due to novel coronavirus.

Sources privy to the matter told Dunya News on Wednesday that petrol and high speed diesel prices will presumably be reduced by Rs 15 per liter.

A summary in this regard will be forwarded to Prime Minister Imran Khan today and the new prices will come into effect from May 1 following the premier’s approval.

Advisor to the PM on Finance Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh, while speaking exclusively in Dunya News program “Dunya Kamran Khan kay Sath” on Tuesday, had said that the cost of energy and travel will decrease with the reduced oil prices in the international market and the government will pass on the benefit of reduced oil prices to public.

It is pertinent to mention here that PM Imran had earlier, in an attempt to provide economic relief to people already suffering from the coronavirus lockdown, announced a major cut in petrol and diesel prices by Rs 15 per liter as well for which the government bore the burden of Rs 75 billion.
