Death toll from toxic liquor in Okara rises to 9

Two of the nine persons died after drinking toxic liquor in Okara were government servants.

OKARA (Dunya News) – Four more people died in Christian Colony near District Hospital in Okara due to consuming toxic liquor after which death toll has reached nine, Dunya News reported on Friday.

According to MS District Hospital Rai Niaz, seven persons, who consumed poisonous liquor, were under treatment at the hospital. He said that three persons died yesterday (Thursday) while the other four died today.

According to sources, two of the nine persons died so far from poisonous liquor were government servants.

On the other hand, police took action after the news was aired by Dunya News on Thursday and seized large quantity of home-made liquor and arrested a man, Nadeem alias Bodi, involved in distributing and selling toxic liquor in the area. Police have also registered a case against him.
