SC orders building quarantine centers on Taftan, Chaman, Torkham borders immediately

Supreme Court has ordered the government to complete construction of these centers within a month

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – In view of the rapidly increasing coronavirus cases in the country, the Pakistan Supreme Court has ordered the establishment of quarantine centers on Taftan, Chaman and Torkham borders.

According to details, during the hearing of the case regarding coronavirus Chief Justice Pakistan Justice Gulzar Ahmed commented that urgent legislation is required to counter the outbreak. He said that the virus entered Pakistan through its borders due to insufficient measures by the government.

The Chief Justice ordered immediate construction of quarantine centers on Taftan, Chaman and Torkham borders while ensuring the provision of isolated accommodation, water supply, clean toilets, emergency medical centers, food and at least a capacity of 1000 people.

The Supreme Court has ordered the government to complete construction of these centers and make them operational within one month and submit a progress report to the Court in the next hearing. Failure to comply with the orders will result in contempt of Court proceedings against the government.
