Controversy mars Abbottabad commission

The commission on Abbottabad has become controversial before it takes off.

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) termed the commission an insult to the joint resolution of parliament while Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) also complained that it was not taken into confidence on the issue.According to a decision of the joint parliament session, opposition leader in the National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan sent a letter to Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani, suggesting seven names for the proposed commission, but only one suggested name, Justice (r) Fakharuddin Ibrahim, was picked up.However, the statements of Chaudhry Nisar and other PML-N stalwarts have created controversy about the commission.Though the personalities inducted as members are not controversial, the opposition parties are not satisfied with the present look of the commission. The government circles explained that Justice (r) Ibrahim’s name was included after Chaudhry Nisar’s letter.Regardless to the opposition’s objections, Justice Ibrahim has expressed his inability to join the commission.A consensus of opinion is missing in political parties and institutions on vital national issue. The investigation commission into Abbottabad incident also faces the same situation.
