Flour, sugar prices behind rising inflation: Hammad Azhar

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Federal Minister for Economic Development Hammad Azhar said that increase in flour and sugar prices is main reason behind rising inflation.
While expressing his views in Dunya News program “Dunya Kamran Khan Kay Sath”, Hammad Azhar said that government adjusted energy prices to save institutions from bankruptcy.
While answering a question, he said that increase in flour and sugar prices is main reason behind rising inflation. In July, ECC decided to ban export of wheat. Federal Minister said that sugar policy should be reformulated to avoid damage to other crops including cotton.
Hammad Azhar added that laws governing privatization are very complex in Pakistan and legal complexities hinder the process of privatization, but government is trying its best to meet its goals regarding privatization.
