WikiLeaks has made new revelations about Pakistan in its recently disclosed cables.

Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani said that the army would not take part in politics, claims WikiLeaks.During his talks with US army commander Gen David Petraeus, Kayani said an impression that Pakistani military was working as mercenary should be removed.Kayani also said that he was not sure if Asif Ali Zardari would forgive Gen (r) Pervez Musharraf. He said that war on terror would be lost if assistance had not been extended to the affected people. Another cable reveals that the army had expressed reservations about FATA operation in 2008.WikiLeaks cable also reveals President Zardari assured the US officials that all the aid would be given to the army. At one point former finance minister Shaukat Tareen contacted US ambassador after army refused to disclose details of the US aid. Tareen was of the view that the Finance Ministry should have knowledge of the funds. He said that in the national budget, funds could be generated by cutting expenditures under the head of arms purchase.Tareen also said that US gave $6.6 billion during Musharraf’s regime, but the army was given only $250 million. He was of the view that the military government did not spend the money which it received for participation in the war on terror.Patterson wrote in 2009 that Pakistan People’s Party leader Naveed Qamar was of the view that the Pakistan Army had suspicions about the use of collection supports funds. He said that the United States should monitor the funds to avoid their misuse by the army generals.
