IG Punjab issued instructions that sniper and commandos in plain clothes should also be deployed

LAHORE (Dunya News) - An important meeting chaired by Inspector General Punjab IGP) Shoaib Dastagir reviewed the performance of police teams, Christmas security, law and order situation and arrest of proclaimed offenders.

Additional IG Operations Inam Ghani informed the IGP that more than 22,000 officers and personnel will be deployed to protect 2778 churches across the province, including 416 inspectors, 1198 sub-inspectors, 2213 additional sub-inspectors, 1693 Head Constables and 15615 Constables. About 3,000 metal detectors and walkthrough gates will also be used in churches for the security of Christian citizens.

IG Punjab issued orders to improve Christmas security and directed DPOs and CPOs to set up their Christmas security plans according to issued SOPs and take extra measures for security of entertainment venues and Christian places of worship.

Meanwhile, he also directed to prepare a list and launch crackdown against top 20 proclaimed offenders in each district.

IGP Dastagir ordered to compile a report regarding progress on cases registered against land mafia, robbery, suspects arrested in car theft, and cases related to old enmities, and also actions taken by the Circle Officers to stop them.

He also ordered to write follow-up letters to Interior Department for the cancellation of licensed weapons used in the crime.
