ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Asif Saeed Khosa has on Monday said December reminds us of the fall of Dhaka and the Army Public School (APS) incident, and both occurrences hold lessons for us to learn.

The CJP addressed a farewell lunch hosted in his honor by Law and Justice Commission of Pakistan and Police Reforms Committee at the National Police Academy in Islamabad.

Justice Asif Saeed Khosa expressed satisfaction that the country has largely and substantially tackled the issue of terrorism. He said the APS tragedy united the entire nation against this menace. He stressed that this nation can do wonders by working together.

He said the state should take care of the rights of its people at any cost. He urged the attendees to not accept any political recommendation and to file its complaint with the National Accountability Bureau (NAB). You will witness a dramatic change after one or two complaints, the CJP affirmed while terming this culture as misconduct.

The Chief Justice said the justice delivery system is improving as a result of steps taken by the apex court. Appreciating the initiatives of Police Reforms Committee, he said the complaint redressal system at police stations has started delivering results.

The mechanism has helped reduce burden on the courts. He said the Police Reforms Committee has also come up with a comprehensive report to turn police into a modern force. He hoped its suggestions will be implemented to transform police into a professional force.

The Chief Justice of Pakistan stressed that police should be transformed into a force that enjoys the trust and confidence of the masses. Asif Saeed Khosa said it is the responsibility of police to protect the citizens against all sorts of excesses and protect their fundamental rights.
