PIC clash: Grand Health Alliance demands Health Minister Yasmin Rashid's resignation
Dr Yasmin Rashid vowed to take strict action against the rioters.
LAHORE (Dunya News) - Young Doctors Association and Grand Health Alliance surrounded Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid during a clash between lawyers and doctors at PIC hospital in Lahore.
According to details, a violent clash erupted between hundreds of lawyers and doctors on Wednesday which left at least four people injured when the charged lawyers stormed into the Punjab Institute of Cardiology and broke windows of the emergency ward and several vehicles parked nearby.

Provincial Health Minister also arrived at the scene to prevent the situation from deteriorating further, but she was surrounded by the doctors who raised slogans against her and demanded her resignation. Dr Yasmin Rashid left as soon as protesting doctors started to gather around her.
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader expressed that strict action would be taken against the rioting lawyers who vandalized PIC, vehicles and stopped medical treatments.
She asserted that those who were supposed to protect the law, has violated it themselves. They beat the doctors, relatives of patients and created an atmosphere of inhumanity. “They are taking out such horrible acts as their elections are around the corner,” she claimed.
Dr Yasmin Rashid maintained that she stands with the doctors’ community and a case will be lodged against the rioters under section 302. “It cannot not get more oppressive when you attack an institution which helps people in regaining their health,” she added.
She further said that no one is allowed to disturb the peace and undergo treatment at any hospital. “We stand with all the victims who were brutalized, and will bring the perpetrators to justice,” she added.
Meahwhile, Dr Yasmin Rashid asserted that CM Usman Buzdar has ordered to stand with doctors, and take strong action against the rioters. “Agitated lawyers tortured doctors by forcibly entering the PIC,” she added.
