Govt, opposition stand united for national cause: Asad Qaiser

MARDAN (Dunya News) - National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser has said that the matters related to appointment of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC), and legislation regarding extension in Army Chief’s tenure will be resolved in upcoming week.

While talking to journalists in Mardan, the NA speaker said that the government and opposition stand united for the national cause despite tensions.

“Ups and downs are a part of politics. Government is in contact with opposition for legislation,” said NA speaker, adding that the matter is being resolved with reconciliation.

Asad Qaiser went on to say that there is no fear of legislative crisis regarding appointment of Chief Election Commissioner. “Senate and National Assembly’s special committee will meet on Wednesday in this regard and the matters will hopefully be resolved by next week,” he added.

The NA speaker further said that most of the production orders were issued during his reign and there was no pressure on him in this regard. He added that he fears no one but Allah and is responsible for the supremacy of the parliament.
