Ansarul Islam case: IHC summons interior ministry officer on Tuesday.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has summoned an interior ministry officer on Tuesday in case pertaining to ban on Ansarul Islam, a subsidiary group of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), Dunya News reported on Monday.
Advocate Kamran Murtaza took the stance before the court that Ansarul Islam is not a private militia, is a part of JUI-F and has been functioning since Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s time.
IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah remarked that how can a group be banned if it does not even exist formally. The chief justice inquired that what action would be taken if its members start wearing white uniform instead of khaki.
“Interior ministry should gain the confidence of the court by presenting its viewpoint as no one can be banned without proper inquiry.
“The government notified to ban Ansarul Islam on October 24. It is quite strange that the organization which does not exist has been banned. The government should have gathered facts before taking this action.”
