NAB Lahore releases stats of arrested, accused elements

LAHORE (Dunya News) – The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Lahore has provided statistics of FIRs being investigated in various cases of corruption, which negates the impression that the NAB summons accused for no reason at all.
According to a report released by NAB Lahore, at least one lac people in NAB Lahore have been summoned for investigation since 2017. During the two-and-a-half-year investigation, based on solid evidence, warrants were issued for the arrest of 859 accused, while around 700,000 people were summoned in various cases since 1999 till 2016.
According to the report, the 1532 arrests out of seven lacs have been implemented in 17 years. DG NAB Lahore Shahzad Saleem expressed that NAB is a national body, whose actions are in the light of law and constitution, and that no extraordinary constitution can be made in the NAB.
He went on to say that the arrest of the accused is done in accordance with the existing laws and on the basis of solid evidence. According to NAB Lahore, many people are called for assistance in investigations, whose arrest is not intended.
