The IHC rejected the bail plea of Hamid Saeed Kazmi in Hajj corruption case.

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) rejected the bail plea of former religious affairs minister Hamid Saeed Kazmi, saying that Kazmi had made the appointments of former Hajj director general Rao Shakeel and middlemen so he should not be granted bail. The former minister had filed a plea in the IHC, maintaining that the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) could not produce evidence of his corruption so he should be granted bail. On previous hearing, the FIA Director General stated in his report that the Ministry of Religious Affairs secretary could not give any plausible explanation about constitution of a two-member hiring committee comprising of Rao Shakeel and Aftabul Islam Raja against the seven-member committee approved in the Hajj policy. The bail application of former minister was rejected by Special Judge Central Rawalpindi Muhammad Farooq Latif on April 14.
