Eight electrocuted as rain plays havoc with Karachi

The torrential rains in parts of Sindh and KPK have wreaked havoc.

KARACHI (Dunya News) – At least eight people, including children, have been electrocuted to death in Karachi after incessant rain in the metropolis on Monday.

As per the details, the incident took place in the Paposh Nagar area where two people lost their lives due to electrocution, while four other deaths were reported from Defense Phase-V, Gulistan-e-Johar and Nazimabad.

The torrential rains in parts of Sindh and KPK have wreaked havoc. Life at Hyderabad, Jamshuru, Thatta, Badin and Tandu Muhammad Khan was paralyzed after heavy rains lashed these cities. On the other hand the flood water caused huge trouble for the residents of Chitral.

As per details, the weather has turned pleasant after heavy rains in parts of Sindh. Rains in Hyderabad troubled people as rain water has not been drained.

In Jamshuru rain water has entered the city. Indus Highway and Railway station are flooded with rain water while power supply has been cut in several areas.

A similar situation was reported from Baddin and Tandu Muhammad Khan where people are suffering due to ill administration of responsible authorities.


Sindh govt closes educational institutions


Earlier today, the Sindh government had decided to give an off day to private and public educational institutions across the province on July 30 due to torrential raining in Sindh.

Sindh government made the announcement in the view of recent rains. The statement said that due to heavy rains, parents, teachers and students would have difficulty reaching the school, so it was decided to give Tuesday off to facilitate them.

Secretary School Education Qazi Shahid Pervez has issued notification for holiday on July 30 in educational institutions.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has predicted widespread rains/wind-thunderstorm in Sindh (Mirpurkhas, Thatta, Hyderabad, Karachi, SH.Benazirabad, Sukkur, Larkana divisions), while at scattered places in Makran, Kalat, Sibbi, Naseerabad, Lahore, Gujranwala, Bahawalpur, Faislabad, Rawalpindi, Malakand, Hazara divisions, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, at isolated places in Sahiwal, Zhob divisions & Islamabad.
