Rehman Malik said that Osama Bin Laden was not protected in Abbottabad by any government agency.
In an interview with an Arab newspaper, Interior Minister Rehman Malik said the presence of Osama Bin Laden was a failure of Intelligence agencies and the 9/11 attacks were also a failure of intelligence agencies. He said that the Director General Inter-Services Intelligence was performing his duties diligently. Rehman Malik said that no government official will resign following the incident in Abbottabad while questioning how many US officials resigned following the 9/11 attacks. He said that there is a lack of confidence and trust in relations between Pakistan and the United States which untimely creates misunderstandings.Rehman said that the family of Bin Laden was in the custody of the Pakistani government and information regarding the number of family members would not be released.Rehman asked those who were blaming Pakistan for Bin Laden’s presence in the country by asking who is responsible for creating Osama Bin Laden, the Al-Qaeda mastermind.Rehman said that the there is no information regarding the presence of Dawood Ibrahim in Pakistan. When asked about a similar operation by India on Pakistani soil, Rehman Malik said that Pakistan will give a befitting reply.
