Pakistan supports Afghan-led peace efforts: Foreign Office

The Foreign Office said that Pakistan recognizes the role of US in promoting peace in Afghanistan.

A Foreign Office Spokesperson on Wednesday rejected the baseless assertions made in an article by Matthew Rosenburg in the Wall Street Journal and said that Pakistan fully supports and acknowledges an Afghan led and owned process for peace and reconciliation.She said that Pakistan recognizes the key role of the United States in promoting stability, peace and harmony in Afghanistan.A trilateral meeting at the senior officials’ level would be held between Afghanistan, Pakistan and the United States next month in Islamabad.She also said that the purpose of the ongoing dialogue with Afghanistan and the United States is to establish strategic coherence and clarity.
