Dadu Sugar Mill scandal: Ex-CM Qaim Ali Shah to appear before NAB Rawalpindi
He is scheduled to appear before the investigation team around 3pm today with all record.
RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) – Former Sindh chief minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah – after getting 10-day pre-arrest interim bail in money laundering and fake bank accounts case yesterday – has been summoned by the National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) office in Rawalpindi for interrogation in Thatta Sugar Mill and Dadu Sugar Mill scandal.
He is scheduled to appear before the investigation team around 3pm today with all record pertaining to the case.
The Islamabad High Court (IHC) granted him bail against Rs1 million in surety bonds while he expressed fear that he might be arrested upon his appearance before the investigation team.
However, a divisional bench, comprising Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Mohsin Akhter Kiyani, instructed him to join the NAB investigation.
Shah had stated in his plea that NAB had served called-up notices to him for March 27, for investigation related to Thatta Sugar Mill and Dadu Sugar Mill. He requested to prevent the department from detaining him on his appearance before the investigation team.
He was named in a report by the joint investigation team probing into alleged money laundering by Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairman Asif Ali Zardari, his sister Faryal Talpur among 172 influential people.
The petition had pleaded with the court that since Shah is 85-year-old (senior citizen), he is entitled to pre-arrest bail.
