Malaysian PM arrives in Islamabad on three-day official visit

The Malaysian PM is accompanied by a high-level delegation including several leading businessmen.

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – Malaysian Prime Minister (PM) Dr Mahathir Mohamad on Thursday arrived in Islamabad on a three-day official visit.

Malaysian PM Dr Mahathir Mohamad was welcomed at Nur base by Prime Minister Imran Khan, cabinet members and other officials. He is paying the visit at the invitation of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

The Malaysian PM is accompanied by a high-level delegation including several leading businessmen.

Clad in traditional dresses, two children presented him a bouquet and a 21-gun salute heralded the arrival of Dr Mahathir Mohamad. A contingent of Presidential Guards presented static salute to the dignitary who is visiting Pakistan, at the invitation of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

During his stay, the Malaysian Prime Minister will be the Guest of Honour at the Pakistan Day Parade on 23rd March.

Prime Minister Mahathir’s bilateral engagements also include call on President Arif Alvi, one-on-one meeting with Prime Minister Imran Khan followed by delegation level talks.

The two prime ministers are scheduled to speak at the roundtable meeting of the chief executive officers of industries, who desire to invest in Pakistan’s automobile and telecommunication sectors.

“Prime Minister Mahathir’s visit will further cement the existing brotherly and friendly relations between the two countries. The focus of the interest is on enhancing economic, trade, investment and defence ties for the mutual benefit of the peoples of the two countries,” the FO statement said.
