Final session of the conference will be held tomorrow.

Participants of the National Judicial Conference (NJC) on Saturday emphasised upon the need to introduce reforms in country’s laws to establish supremacy of law. Different working groups’ meetings were held today on the second day of the three-day conference in Islamabad. In a meeting about jail reforms, three prisoners of the Adiala Jail also took part under special arrangements. The prisoners told the participants that unnecessary delay of appeals kept several innocent people behind the bars. Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry also attended the conference and said that proposals of the Law and Justice Commission were being implemented which would improve the situation of jails and prisoners. Different issues relating to eradication of corruption from judiciary, speedy dispensation of justice and use of technology came under discussion.
