The arrests by the paramilitary force come at a time of renewed violence in the city

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Sindh Rangers have on Monday apprehended at least eight suspects belonging to Muttahida Qaumi Movement-London (MQM-London) involved in different crimes including target killing in Karachi.

Addressing a press conference in Karachi on Monday, Sindh Rangers Colonel Faisal Awan said that the peace in the city has been restored in the city due to Karachi operation but the enemies of the state were trying to destroy Karachi s peace and prosperity.

He said that the recent incidents of target killing were aimed at destroying the city’s peace.

Col Faisal went on to say that the intelligence teams of the paramilitary force was formed following a gun attack on MQM-Pakistan office in North Karachi left at least one party worker dead, while another was injured.

The attack followed a hit on a local leader of Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) leader in the same area.

Col Faisal went on to say that the intelligence teams of the paramilitary force was formed following a bomb blast the MQM-Pakistan’s Mehfil-e-Milad followed by firing at the PSP office and MQM-Pakistan’s New Karachi office.

He said at least eight suspects belonging to MQM-London were arrested and the arrested men revealed that Saleem had set up the team in 2018.

The arrests by the paramilitary force come at a time of renewed violence in the city, although less intense compared to the past.

The Rangers official also played a recorded Whatsapp call in which the suspects purportedly discussed the crimes including terrorist activities involving code words like  boxes  for improvised explosive devices (IEDs),  aalu  for hand grenade and  cassette  for pistol.
