Bidding was opened in the PML-N's government time period

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Chairman Wapda Lt. General (retd) Muzammil Husain has said though I am not someone’s spokesperson, awarding Mohmand dam contract to Descon is not a conflict of interest.

He was addressing a news conference in the federal capital on Wednesday.

While clearing the dust, Husain clarified that Wapda has no authority to bar any joint venture’s bidding process. Awarding Mohmand dam contract to Razzaq Daud’s company – Descon - is a lawful, he added.

He said it is worth mentioning that after a period of 40 years, dams are going to be built in the country, and the government has awarded the contract to the company who fulfilled the requirements of international consultant & Pepra rules.

Wapda chief said the Mohmand dam contract is awarded to joint venture of Chinese and Pakistani companies, in which Chinese company has 70 percent and Descon has 30 percent shares. He further added the bidding was opened in the PML-N’s government time period.

He said Mohmand dam has a capacity to reserve 1.2 million acres water while 800 megawatts electricity to be produced and Peshawar will get water supply as well.
