Karachi: CNG crisis enters fourth day

A fact-finding committee was formed by PM to review failing of SSGCL and SNGPL systems.
KARACHI (Dunya News) – Gas and CNG crisis that has gripped Karachi, has entered fourth day today (Thursday) on the other hand traders and CNG association also have threatened to stage sit-in in case of their demand for gas supply was not fulfilled.
According to details, the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) spokesperson had said in a statement that supply to CNG stations would remain discontinued for an indefinite period of time due to technical faults in the field, adding that the gas supply would also remain suspended for three months to the industrial units run by the captive power plants in Karachi.
Earlier, on Wednesday, a fact-finding committee was formed by Prime Minister Imran Khan to review failing of Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL) and Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) systems. The committee was directed to present its report to the premier in 72 hours.
PM Imran had presided over a meeting high-level meeting in which matters pertaining to gas crisis in the country was reviewed.
The prime minister constituted a four-member fact-finding committee. The committee will investigate allegations against managing directors (MDs) of SNGPL and SSGCL.
The committee will also review failure of both companies and will present a report to PM Imran Khan in 72 hours.
