SC summons interior minister, others in missing persons case

Supreme Court has said that the number of missing persons is increasing day by day.

The Supreme Court on Wednesday summoned the federal interior minister, all the provincial home secretaries and the inspector generals of police on the next hearing of the missing persons case.A three-member bench of the Supreme Court headed by Justice Javed Iqbal heard the case of the missing persons. Justice Iqbal said that none of the intelligence agency was above the law and every agency should operate according to the law and the constitution.He said that the Supreme Court had to look after the issue of law and order situation despite the existence of several law enforcement agencies.Justice Iqbal said that parliament was the supreme institution; therefore, new laws should be enacted to contain terrorism if the current laws were not fulfilling the requirement.
