Chinese officials confess receiving kickbacks in Multan metro bus project

A three-member Pakistani team headed by Shehzad Akbar will visit Beijing to record their statements.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Chinese authorities have contacted their Pakistani counterparts over alleged corruption in Multan metro bus.

Sources close to the development said Beijing had apprehended two officials of the Chinese company overseeing the project. The two officials have confessed to receving kickbacks, they added.

A three-member Pakistani team headed by Shehzad Akbar will leave for Beijing. The other two members include National Accountablity Bureau Director General Irfan Mangi and NAB Multan Deputy Director Shahid.

According to sources, the team will record the statement of the two Chinese officials who confessed to transferring billions to China while working on the metro bus project.
