(WebDesk) - Begum Kulsoom Nawaz was laid to rest at Jati Umra, the Sharif family residence in Lahore, near the graves of her father-in-law Mian Sharif and brother-in-law Abbas Sharif, on Friday.

Thousands of people joined the mourning family in performing the final rites of the former first lady, Begum Kulsoom Nawaz. The road leading to Jati Umra residence was lined with cars as far as the eye could see and the ground of the Sharif medical city complex is overflowed with the sea of the party workers, supporters, politicians, journalists, civil society members and others arrived to attend the funeral prayers of Begum Kulsoom Nawaz.

Her funeral prayers, led by Maulana Tariq Jameel, were offered at a ground at Sharif Medical City around 5:30pm, after which her body was transported to Jati Umra.

Prime Minister Azad Kashmir Raja Muhammad Farooq Haider, Pakistan People’s Party leader Khursheed Shah, Qamaz Zaman Kira, former prime ministers Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani and Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, Farooq Sattar and Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui of MQM-P, Chaudhry brothers and former President of Pakistan Mamoon Hussain along with all the leadership of Pakistan Muslim League N participated in the funeral congregation.

Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser, Governor Punjab Chaudhry Sarwar and other also attended the funeral prayers of the former first lady.

Body of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif s wife, Begum Kulsoom is being taken in an ambulance from the Hajj Terminal of Allama Iqbal International Airport to Sharif Medical City in Jati Umra.
