QUETTA (Dunya News) – The Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) has nominated Jam Kamal Khan and Abdul Qudus Bizenjo as its candidates for the slot of chief minister and assembly speaker, respectively.

A formal announcement in this regard was made by BAP General Secretary Manzoor Ahmed Kakar during a meeting of the party’s parliamentary board on Friday.

Earlier, there were reports of differences within the ranks of Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) over the nomination of Jam Kamal for the chief minister’s slot.

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Balochistan chapter, Balochistan National Party (BNP Mengel) and BAP had expressed reservation on Jahangir Tareen’s announcement backing Kamal as the candidate.

They said the right to take decisions pertaining to the provincial matters rests with the Balochistan leadership. PTI parliamentary group members, on the other hand, claimed they were not taken into confidence over the matter.

The development came a day after winning candidates of the Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) had announced their “unconditional support” for PTI.

BAP managed to secure four of the 272 seats in the National Assembly, according to the Election Commission of Pakistan, and emerged as the largest party in Balochistan with 15 provincial assembly seats.
