Mirza Saleem Baig appointed PEMRA chairman
SC directed information minstry to appoint Baig as PEMRA chairman within two days.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – In compliance with orders of Supreme Court of Pakistan (SC), information ministry on Thursday issued notification of appointment of Mirza Saleem Baig as Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) chairman.
The notification states that Baig has been appointed as PEMRA chairman for duration of four years. Earlier, Baig was serving as principal information officer in the Information Department.
A scrutiny committee headed by Sartaj Aziz had recommended Baig for aforementioned position but the electoral body had halted the appointment due to ban on recruitments.
However, top court quashed the objections and directed information minstry to appoint Baig as PEMRA chairman within two days.
