RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) – The appellate tribunal on Wednesday has rejected nomination papers of former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi from his home ground NA-57 Murree.

While announcing the verdict, Justice Ibad-ur-Rehman accepted all the objections of the plaintiff Masood Ahmad Abbasi and disallowed the ex-premier to contest the polls from this constituency.

The claimant, in his plea, stated that Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has occupied small forest near Lawrence College while he had also mentioned wrong price of his F7-II house in the papers.

Meanwhile, the tribunal also suspended returning officer after he accepted his mistake.

On the other hand, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Fawad Chaudhry was declared ineligible to contest the polls from NA-67.

Earlier today, appellate tribunal declared Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Imran Sher Ali ineligible to contest upcoming general polls from PP-117.

Pleas against nomination papers of PML-N’s Saira Afzal Tarar from Hafizabad and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Ejaz Cheema from NA-75 were also dismissed.

However, Tehreek-e-Labaik candidate Dr Ashraf Asif Jalali for NA-81 was barred from contesting the elections.

It is to be mentioned here that the revised list of candidates will be published on Thursday.

Candidates can withdraw their nomination papers by Friday while the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) will allot election symbols to candidates on Saturday.

Polling for the general elections will be held on 25th of next month.
