Defence analysts slam Gen (retd) Durrani over controversial book
Air Marshal (retd) Shahid Latif urged to constitute a committee to probe into the matter.
(Roznama Dunya) – Defence analysts have slammed Gen (retd) Durrani over violating military code of conduct by co-authoring controversial book “The Spy Chronicles” with Indian Research and Analyst Wing’s (RAW) chief AJ Singh.
Well-informed sources told our correspondent military’s top brass had reviewed Durrani’s book for two to three days before summoning him to General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi.
Speaking exclusively to Dunya News, Lt Gen (retd) Amjad Sheikh stated such a step from a person who had served at various high-level positions was not pardonable. “He should have asked for formal permission from military leadership before this venture”, asserted Sheikh.
“He meddled in politics during his tenure in Inter Service Intelligence (ISI) upon which then army chief transferred him to GHQ. Durrani kept on meddling in politics and hence, was forced to seek premature retirement”, revealed Sheikh while adding at the same time that Durrani had remained a controversial figure throughout his career.
