NAs SC recommends steps to reduce PIA losses

The NAs SC on Defence has recommended to issue international bonds to reduce the PIA losses.

The National Assembly’s Standing Committee on defence held a meeting to review the losses of PIA. The Chairperson of the Subcommittee Ishrat Ashraf presented the report regarding PIA losses. According to the report, PIA’s bad record of loan returns causing problems to get new loan. The committee also suggested to conduct an accountability of the top officials of PIA from 2002 to onward and a detail report of their properties should be prepared.The PIA MD told the committee that RS 58 billion needed to overcome the PIA’s financial crunch. The defence secretary said that finance ministry had issued nothing for PIA besides four meetings.
