(Dunya News) – The historical city of Multan has been the centre of tourist attraction. However, despite being constructed five years ago, the Food Street of this city depicts a gloomy picture with broken pavements and closed shops.

Situated near the Multan Fort’s Qasim Garden, the government invested millions on the project to attract visitors with food and sightseeing.

Without any measures to make the 47 shops there operational, Food Street portrays a sad and miserable sight. The empty street has become a dumping ground where garbage is found lying around everywhere.

In addition, the empty area has become a den for many drug addicts. Residents complain that the local government should intervene and resolve the issue.

Speaking to Dunya News Deputy Commissioner Multan, Nadir Chatta said that he has taken serious notice of the issue and will call a meeting with concerned departments to address the concerns.

According to Multan’s district administration, the Food Street will soon be functional following cleaning of the site and provision of basic amenities including gas and electricity.
