NAB court issues detailed verdict in Sharif familys exemption plea
The plea was filed by the Sharif family seeking a week-long exemption to appear before the court.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Accountability court on Wednesday issued detailed verdict on exemption from hearing plea of ex-prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz in National Accountability Bureau (NAB) references.
The plea was filed by the Sharif family seeking a week-long exemption to appear before the court. In the request, the former prime minister and his daughter informed the court that they will be travelling to the United Kingdom to make decisions regarding Kulsoom Nawaz’s treatment plan for cancer.
It has been stated in the written order by accountability court judge Muhammad Bashir that the accused can talk to their family members and doctors in London by the use of modern technology.
It also stated that the judicial proceedings will be affected if the accused failed to return to the country for any reason. It also said that the trial cannot be completed in the absence of accused.
It was further said that the NAB has opposed the exemption plea of former prime minister and his daughter as the case is in its final stages. According to NAB, it had already recommended the concerned authorities to put the names of the accused on exit control list (ECL).
