Senator Krishna Kumari determined to improve lives of Thari women

(Dunya News) – Tharparkar has a new representative in Sindh’s senate, and she is determined to work and struggle for the betterment of her community.

Krishna Kumari is the first female Hindu senator in the history of Pakistan. Dressed in her traditional Thari dress, with white bangles, Kumari received applause from senators welcoming her when she reached the Senate to sign and officiate her responsibilities.

Supporting Kumari, her family was also present.

Speaking to media, Kumari thanked Bilawal Bhutto, Asif Zardari and Faryal Talpur for giving her a chance to represent and work for the people of Thar and represent her community.

“I will work for the improvement of lives of women, and will solve the issues associated with people of Thar such as better education, health and water issues,” she added.

For the past twenty years, she has actively worked and struggled to improve the education for girls in Thar district. Kumari has a master’s degree in Sociology from Sindh University.

"The platform, through which I wanted to improve sectors of health and education of women, I have received it. Now I will work hard to achieve and work for the betterment of everyone.”
