Senate election: PML-N yet to announce names of candidates

PMLN has claimed to gain support of 57 senators.

(Dunya News) – Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN) will announce name of their candidates for the posts of Senate chairman and Senate deputy chairman today whereas allies have assured Nawaz Sharif of putting their weight behind party.

According to details, all political outfits have expedited their efforts as time for Senate election nears. The quaid for life of PMLN—Nawaz Sharif—has received assurance from his allies that they would support candidates nominated by Sharif.

On the other hand, Nawaz Sharif has claimed to have gained support of 57 candidates. PML-N Senator and senior leader Mushahid Ullah Khan claimed on Saturday said, “PML-N candidate will have the backing of 57 Senators.”

He added that only the ex-PM had the authority to make all decisions, stressing that the PML-N held support for the position of Senate chairman and deputy chairman. On a question, he said he was not sure whether PPP Co-chairman Asif Zardari had been considering the name of Raza Rabbani for the post.
