Pakistan to get 1000MW electricity from Tajikistan

Under CASA-1000 project, Pakistan will initially get 1,000MW of electricity from Tajikistan.

A feasibility report of the project will be completed soon. The Central Asia-South Asia-1000 (CASA-1000) is a regional project providing for construction of high voltage electricity transmission lines for electricity exports from Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan to Pakistan via Afghanistan with the help of the World Bank.Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan have reservations on CASA-1000 project. It is expected that CASA-1000’s electricity will cost Rs 6 per unit. The project will cost Rs 67 billion and the power transmission line between Tajikistan and Pakistan via Afghanistan will be 750 kilometres long. Under the agreement, line losses have to be suffered by Pakistan.
