ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Accountability court will conduct hearing on National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) two supplementary references against former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on February 22.

The references include Al-Azizia Steel Mills and Flagship Investment.

It is to be mentioned here that Nawaz Sharif’s lawyer Khawaja Harris sought time from Justice Mohammad Bashir for arguments on the references.

Previously, accountability court had rejected exemption from appearance plea submitted by ex-PM Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Captain (r) Safdar.

Justice Mohammad Bashir read out the verdict and dismissed the petition, seeking exemption for two weeks from February 19 to meet Kulsoom Nawaz, who is undergoing medical treatment in London.

Talking to media, Sharif maintained that now his opponents want to remove him from party presidency but Allah is with that person whose conscious is clear. He criticized that the PCO judges, who took oath from Musharraf, will now teach him.

“These people are trying to build a 10-storey building on an evasive foundation,” he said.

SC disqualified Sharif from office in July over unreported sources of annual income of about $10,000, a salary the former premier denies ever receiving. The high court also ordered the NAB to investigate and conduct a trial into the Sharif family’s wider finances, including the London properties.

Sharif maintains control of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) party, which elected close ally Shahid Khaqan Abbasi as prime minister after Sharif was disqualified.
