Hearing against Sharif family adjourned without any proceeding

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Accountability court on Tuesday has adjourned the hearing of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) references against Sharif family without any proceeding. 

Ex-prime minister Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Captain (r) Safdar appeared in the court but Maryam Nawaz’s lawyer Amjad Pervez skipped the hearing due to the demise of noted lawyer and human rights actvitist Asma Jahangir.

An exemption plea for two weeks from February 19 was also submitted by the accused, seeking permission to fly London to meet Kulsoom Nawaz, who is undergoing medical treatment.

Summoning four witnesses, the court has adjourned the hearing till February 15.

Talking to media, Nawaz Sharif asked that on which grounds, he is being subjected to political revenge and that till how long he has to appear in the court. Those who had filed references against us only want to punish me, he added.

Sharif said that Pakistani nation is representing his case by trusting Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N). Pakistan’s economy was taken to its maximum during the reign of PML-N, he said.

He said that how he can get sentence when the allegations against him are baseless.

Meanwhile, Captain Safdar said that the nation has announced its verdict by supporting Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate in NA-154 Lodhran by-election.

He said that Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) Chief Tahir-ul-Qadri is playing guest appearance in Pakistan.

Responding to a question, Captain (r) Safdar said that Asif Ali Zardari came into power without anything in hands. He also expressed resentment over being called as Kaptaan and said that he is captain.

He further said that the justice will be given on the day when former president Pervez Musharraf will also be detained.
