Will take SC as a free institution when it will also sentence Musharraf to Adiala jail: Ahsan Iqbal.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal on Saturday has said that former president Pervez Musharaf was biggest accused of contempt of court, he should also be sent to jail like Nehal Hashmi.

Talking to media, the interior minister said that he will take Supreme Court (SC) as a free institution when it will sentence Musharraf to Adiala jail over his continuous contempt of court attempts.

People may think that pre-election rigging agenda is being run if Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) will only be targeted, he added.

He said that it is also possible that PML-N president and former Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif will get punishment from accountability court before the elections to carry out pre-poll rigging against the party.

Lauding the development projects, the minister said that Pakistan is rising and its successes are also being recognized by the world community. He said significant improvement has been witnessed in the law and order situation of country.

He said we have to maintain consistency of policies within country to achieve the goals of development and prosperity.

Earlier on Thursday, SC had sentenced former PML-N leader Nehal Hashmi to one month in prison over contempt of court case against him.

A three-member bench headed by Justice Asif Khosa had disqualified the accused for five years, asking him to submit Rs50,000 fine. The decision was abruptly opposed by Justice Dost Mohammad.

The court had also rejected unconditional apology plea of Nehal Hashmi.
