Supreme Court removes Siddique ul Farooq from ETPB chairmanship

Farooq announced to file review petition against the order
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Supreme Court ruled removing Evacuee Trust Board Property (ETPB) Chairman Siddique ul Farooq from his position while hearing the Katas Raj Temples case on Wednesday.
Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar led the hearing by three-member bench in the suo motu action against drying up of Katas Raj temple complex pond because of the industrial impact.
The court ruled that Farooq was ineligible to hold the office as a chairman has to use legal powers, adding that the new chairman should be appointed while considering this necessity.
Additional advocate general informed the court that the tenure of ETPB chairman has ended, and that the summary of new chairman will be sent soon.
Responding to the order, Farooq talked to media outside the apex court. He argued that he had presented his entire profile on the orders of CJP. “He (CJP) remarked that I am not qualified,” he told.
Farooq announced to file a review petition against the order.
Earlier, the top court had expressed resentment over the absence of the ETPB Chairmanin the hearing of Katas Raj Temple case. CJP had sought details of ETPB property records, income sources and points on issues being faced by the Hindus.
