Pakistan condemns ballistic missile attack on Najran in Saudi Arabia

Islamabad condemned missile attack by Houthi militia on Najran city.

ISLAMAB AD (Dunya News) - The Government of Pakistan has condemned the ballistic missile attack by Houthi militia on the city of Najran in Saudi Arabia on 05 January 2018.

"Pakistan commends the Government of Saudi Arabia for destroying the missile before it caused any civilian casualties. It is however concerned at reports that there was some damage to property," the Foreign Office spokesperson stated in a press release on Tuesday. 

"The Government reiterates its full support and solidarity with the leadership, the Government and people of Saudi Arabia against any threats to its territorial integrity and threats against Harmain Sharifain," he added. 

As per details, Royal Saudi Air Defense forces intercepted a ballistic missile fired on Najran on 5th January.

Late last month in statement, Islamabad expressed concerns stating that “the increasing frequency and ferocity of the missile attacks, targeted at innocent civilians by Houthi rebels, pose a threat to regional peace and security.


ATTACK CONDEMNED BY OIC


Two days ago, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) also strongly condemned the Houthi militia’s launching of a ballistic missile on the city of Najran in Saudi Arabia.

Dr. Yousef bin Ahmed Al-Othaimeen, the OIC Secretary General, asserted that the continued firing of ballistic missiles on Saudi Arabia confirms that Houthi militias persist in their hostile and criminal approach, which aims to destabilize Saudi Arabia and the region and implement conspiracy schemes against Saudi Arabia and its citizens and residents.

The Secretary General reiterated the OIC full support and solidarity with the leadership, government and people of Saudi Arabia in all steps and measures taken to maintain its security and stability. Al-Othaimeen praised the Saudi air defense forces for intercepting and destroying the missile before it landed on the densely populated civilian areas, preventing any casualtie
